CONGRATULATIONS TO IMPACTMOTION - WINNER OF THE 2009 YOUTUBE VIDEO CONTEST

The first place winner in the 13-17 Year Old age category is "Reflections of Beauty" by ImpactMotion. This video will be used in Jessie’s Hope marketing awareness campaign, throughout BC, over the next few months.

The first place winner in the 18-25 Year Old age category is "So What" by Desisun.

The Contest:

Jessie's Hope Society wants to hear from BC Youth to learn "What Makes You Beautiful? Check out www.youtube.com/group/jessieshope for your chance at $2,000.00 in scholarships and to have your video featured in a BC-wide awareness campaign. Check out what two local youth have to say about the contest on www.youtube.com/group/jessieshope.

The Judging:
Judging and rating of all videos will take place after 6pm on January 20, 2009 by a panel of expert judges, including celebrity judge Lauren Toyota. The judges will be looking for videos that are educational, creative, diverse, original, of quality and meet the following criteria:

            ~ Maximum 3 minutes in length
            ~ Demonstrates how you and/your family and/or friends develop healthy self-esteem,
                body image and inner strength to live with a healthy mind, body and soul despite
                pressures from the media, fashion, sports, diet industries and even friends and family.
                We are looking to you to answer the question: What makes you Beautiful?
            ~ You must be between the ages of 13 and 25 inclusive and a resident of British Columbia.

Entry Details:
Go to www.youtube.com/group/jessieshope by first joining the group, and then clicking "add video" and upload your video meeting the above noted criteria. Then email your YouTube video link, your YouTube username, age, location and name/phone number to: info@jessieshope.org.

IMPORTANT: TO HAVE YOUR VIDEO SCREENED AT THE THEATRE WE MUST RECEIVE A HIGH QUALITY DVD VERSION OF YOUR VIDEO ENTRY IN THE MAIL PRIOR TO JANUARY 20, 2009 IN ORDER TO BE CLASSIFIED BY THE BC FILM CLASSIFICATION BOARD AND TO BE ENTERED INTO OUR CONTEST. The Awards:
This year, we have created two categories for prizes:

Age Group 13-17: Age Group 18-25:

1st Place: $500.00 1st Place: $500.00

2nd Place: $200.00 2nd Place: $300.00

*Early Bird Bonus: $150.00 to the video with the most online views before January 20, 2009. Register Early and Promote Your Video!

**Under 15 Bonus: $100.00 bonus for the top entry by a youth under 15 years old.

***All Contestents: must obtain written permission from all participants appearing in your video before submitting your entry and posting on YouTube. All contestents under 18 years of age must obtain parental permission to post their entry.

****The winning videos become the property of Jessie's Hope Society and by posting a video, all contestents agree that Jessie's Hope Society may use the video for their programming and promotion as they see fit including screening the video at the Awards Ceremony and that Jessie's Hope Society at is sole discretion will use or not use any video for its purpose.

All participants and the public are invited to attend Jessie’s Hope Society’s YouTube Video Premier and Awards Ceremony February 2nd, 2009 at UBC Robson Square in Vancouver. Doors open at 6:30pm. Contest winners will be announced the night of The Premier and awards will be presented by Lauren Toyota and special guests. Tickets will go on sale in early January and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They must be reserved in advance by emailing info@jessieshope.org as seating is limited. All reserved tickets will be left at the 'will call' desk the night of the Premier and only cash will be accepted as payment.
