CONGRATULATIONS TO SUN GILL OF MAPLE RIDGE, BC.   WINNER OF THE YOUTUBE VIDEO CONTEST - What makes you Strong?

The first place winner was awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship and went to Maple Ridge youth, Sun Gill for his video “I Am Strong”. Sun’s video will be used in Jessie’s Hope marketing awareness campaign, throughout BC, over the next few months. Sun was able to demonstrate an optimistic message on how he and his friends recognize healthy self-esteem and body image in spite of all the daily pressures youth face in today’s society from the media, sports, film, peers and diet industries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlmMHszfhRU

Second place winner was awarded a $500.00 scholarship and went to Vancouver youth, Mica Prazak for his “What Makes Me Strong” video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcKZVtoNb44

There was a tie for third place. CONTEST DETAILS


The Contest:
Here's your chance to win a $1000, $500, or $250 scholarship and a chance to have your video used in a BC-wide marketing campaign.  Check out what Jessie's friend, Caroline, has to say about the contest on  www.youtube.com/group/jessieshope.

The Judging: 
Judging and rating of all videos will take place after 5pm on January 25 to January 28, 2008 by a panel of expert judges, including Lauren Toyota, MuchMusic's On-air Host and Segment Producer of Going Coastal.  The judges will be looking for videos that are educational, creative, diverse, original and of quality and meet the following criteria:             

            ~ Maximum 3 minutes in length         
            ~ Demonstrates how you and/your family and/or friends develop healthy self-esteem, 
                body image and inner strength to live with a healthy mind, body and soul despite 
                pressures from the media, fashion, sports, diet industries and even friends and family.  
                We are looking to you to answer the question:  What makes you Strong?
            ~ You must be between the ages of 12 and 22 inclusive and a resident of British Columbia. 

To Enter:
Go to www.youtube.com/group/jessieshope and upload your video. Then email your YouTube video link, your YouTube username, age, location and name/phone number to: youtube@jessieshope.org(Only those submissions received at this email address will be considered)

The Awards:
All participants and the public will be invited to attend Jessie’s Hope Society’s YouTube Video Premier and Awards Ceremony February 5th, 2008 at UBC Robson Square in Vancouver, BC. Doors open at 6:15pm. Contest winners will be announced the night of The Premier and awards will be presented by MuchMusic’s Lauren Toyota and special guests.  Tickets will go on sale in early January and are $10 for adults and $5 for students.  They must be reserved in advance by emailing info@jessieshope.org as seating is limited.  All reserved tickets will be left at the 'will call' desk the night of the Premier and only cash will be accepted as payment.
